YOUNG Bahraini girls must focus on education, which will determine their future roles in the country's development, Bahrain's First Lady said yesterday. Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women (SWC), was speaking ahead of a graduation ceremony for the Shaikha Hessa Girls School students.

NEARLY a quarter of boys in Bahrain miss secondary school altogether, according to findings in a global study, released yesterday. Twenty-three per cent of boys and 15pc of girls in Bahrain were unable to attend secondary school, according to figures for 2000 to 2006, detailed by the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef).
